הספר עוד קריאה הוא מקראה פעילה, שמטרתה לשפר את שטף הקריאה, את הבנת הנקרא ואת הכתיבה. המקראה מיועדת לילדים בכתות א-ב.ס
במקראה הושם דגש על טקסטים ופעילויות המכוונים לילדים בעלי לקויות למידה. המקראה היא חלק משיטת “צליל מילה סיפור” המומלצת על ידי האגף לחינוך מיוחד. ניתן להשתמש במקראה גם לאחר הקניית קריאה בשיטות אחרות.ס
מה במקראה: הטקסטים מדורגים על פי אורכם, אורך המילים ואורך המשפטים בהם. הילדים נחשפים למגוון של תת-סוגות ונושאים מעולמם של הילדים. בנוסף לחשיפה מכוונת לאוצר מילים והעשרת ידע עולם נעשה שימוש בשפה דבורה במטרה למשוך את הילדים להתנסות בקריאה.ס
כל יחידה הכוללת טקסט ופעילויות לא עולה בארכה על שני עמודים, וזאת על מנת ליצור אצל הילדים חוויית הצלחה. פעילויות הכתיבה עוסקות בהבנת הנקרא ברובד הגלוי והסמוי. משימות בכתיבה חופשית מיועדות לאפשר הבעת עמדה אישית ורגשית.
